Father's Day Weekend with the Mariners!

On Father's Day weekend Kory and I went with Lucas and Shanell (Kory's brother and wife) to Seattle for a little random fun and a Mariner's game. We went up early Saturday morning and drove first to McGrath's Fish House for some unworldly Mozerella sticks and lunch. Kory ended up getting his lunch free because he had an allergic reaction to some kind of nut oil in his pasta. His tongue was huge! Then we went up to central Seattle to the Space Needle and walked around the center there and saw some sights. Below the Space Needle here is the roof of the Experience Music Project which is a crazy, whacky, curvy, and very colorful building which houses a museum of music. I've seen it from the freeway many times and was excited to see it up close.


Shanell made us pose in these weird giant sculptures. There is some interesting stuff to see near the Space Needle. We rode some of the rides there at the amusement park too. I think riding the roller coaster was my favorite part of the whole trip. Only on a roller coaster can a person totally forget about the stresses and worries of being a grown up and give themselves up to wild abandon and scream until they nearly wet their pants!

Here we are at Safeco Field. This was my first Mariner's game and it was exciting to be there in the stadium. I could care less for baseball on TV, but being there to watch it live was pretty fun. We had great seats and a great variety of interesting characters to watch...

There was mullet man and his buddy who got thrown out 3 times for drunkeness...

Earring guy who was about 30 years too old to have an earring in his ear and looked straight at Shanell when she snapped his photo. She just about melted into her seat!

And then my personal favorite, Mustache man. Check out the curly-q on that facial hair!

Here we are enjoying the game, the entertainment of the crowd, garlic fries and popcorn! Lucas was really having a good time, despite his expression here...

Sadly, the Mariners lost. We had one or two exciting innings though. As Robbie always says, "It's hard being a fan of the worst baseball team." After the game we stayed at the Hilton by the airport and enjoyed small, but very soft and plush beds. On the way home we stopped at Krispy Kremes and got a dozen delicious doughnuts to share. We wished we could have taken a longer trip, but the time we had was a blast!
